If you are a Google Adsense publisher, you are required to adhere to the Adsense policies. If you fail to comply with the policies, Google has the right to disable ad serving to your blog/website and/or disable your AdSense account at any time.


If your account is disabled, you will not be eligible for further participation in the AdSense program. So, to avoid ban, you need to be aware of the type of content that might put you in trouble, hence the need to avoid  them.

You may not place Adsense code on pages with content that violates any of Adsense guidelines. Some examples include content that is adult, violent or advocating racial intolerance.  Apart from these, there are other content Adsense doesn't allow.

Google Adsense is a wonderful invention by Google which allows us; bloggers/web site publishers to make some extra cash from our blogs or websites with some little effort.  This extra cash can turn into thousands of dollars over time, provided you work hard and abide by Google TOS ( Rules). Google Adsense is one of best solutions for any blog or web site owner who wants to earn a little extra cash. I am now making some cool money from Google Adsense monthy and you too can but there is a downside.


Here is a downside: People are so wowed by the earning potential especially when they see the screenshots of the fat-earnings of some bloggers but they fail to realise that those big-earners have worked so hard to earn such fat checks.  That being said, I would never tell you making money online is easy. Anyone that tells you that it is easy to make money online is lying to you….Nothing in life is completely free.

Making money from Google Adsense is not just about creating a blog and blasting ads on the pages of the blog. If you do not learn how to build a blog or website that generates targeted traffic, there will be no money from Adsense and might be frustrated to the extent that you will quit blogging asap.

You have to know that NONE of the successful people made a profit overnight. If I tell you how long it took me to receive my first check, I doubt if you will ever want to go into blogging for Adsense. Despite all I went through; today, am thankful to God because I now earn on monthly basis, what many bankers can not earn despite working so hard all day.

If you can’t generate at least 100 unique visitors per day to your blog, you probably not going to earn through Adsense revenue to make this process worth your time.  To get these visitors, you need traffic and loads of it.
 
If you already have a blog or website getting decent traffic, then Adsense will be an instant success for you. However, if you are just getting started, then YES, you do have a lot of work to do but the good news is that the more you work at building and marketing your site, the better the rewards.

You can make ton of money with Adsense, just remember the following points:

1. It is a MUST you learn how to manage/update the blog or website yourself. 

If you pay someone to build one for you, make sure you learn at least, how to update it with fresh contents.  In order to maintain your traffic levels and keep your Adsense revenue coming in, your blog should be updated frequently with fresh content. If you are the type hoping to be using AutoBlogging softwares or copying/pasting other people’s content on your blog, so you can make money fast, trust me, you will hardly make it.  Google is not a fool. Period!

2. Only choose topics that interests you.

Just because Blogger A is making good money on his blog by mere posting about “making money online” on his blog, does not mean you too will be making money on your blog if you start posting “how to make money online” to your blog.  This is the biggest mistake I see many newbie bloggers making, day in day out.  I would have never created www.ogbongeblog.com if I didn’t enjoy teaching others how to blog amongst other thins I share on the blog.

I would never have been as motivated to maintain my blog if I had chosen something like FOREX. Even though it sounds like a profitable topic for Adsense ( FOREX related ads may earn you more per click), I would have been bored to tears developing content for something I know very little about. hence, you will be successful in Adsense if you are passionate about the subject matter of your blog. Plus, it will be much easier to come up with fresh, useful and informative content. Don’t worry about the earning potential of your blog’s subject matter because the money will come once your site generates enough traffic.

3. Understand this will not happen Overnight.


It could take months before you start seeing any real traffic and income from Adsense. You have to earn a good ranking by building a useful blog and getting other quality, related sites to link back to you.  Without all these, you might not make money from Adsense, even for years.

4. Marketing is everything when it comes to success with Adsense.

Below are some marketing tips:

   (a)  Do a Google search for forums in your niche, search Facebook for facebook Groups in your niche and go where your target audience hangs out. become a member of such forums and groups and get noticed in a positive way.

    (b) Find and build relationship with other bloggers or webmasters in your niche, so that in the long run, you can exchange links and articles. These days, networking is everything.

    (c) Check out my Traffic and SEO posts and also keep searching Google for articles related to them to discover how to optimize your site or blog for higher rankings in the search engines.

Remember, success takes time and Adsense revenue is not going to be instant.

What is CTR, Impression, eCPM in Google Adsense Reports?..Meaning Explained..

The Google Adsense reports contain some Adsense Terminologies you must understand in order to get better understanding of how Google Adsense works. These Terminologies include: CTR, Impression, eCPM.

The AdSense report visible from the Monetize tab ( in Blogger's dashboard) or when logged in to www.google.com/adsense contains basic information about how many ads have run on your blog, how many clicks were generated, and how much revenue you have earned. Each term in the report is defined below:

Page impression: A page impression is generated every time a user views a page displaying Google ads. Google counts one page impression regardless of the number of ads displayed on that page. For example, if you have a page displaying three ad units and it is viewed twice, you will generate two page impressions and six ad unit impressions.

Clicks:# The number of times an ad was clicked on in the given reporting period.

Page CTR (Clickthrough Rate): The number of ad clicks divided by the number of impressions for the page of ads that appears when a link unit is clicked. For example, if your Ad Units were displayed 50 times and clicked 10 times, the CTR will be 20% (10/50 * 100 ). The higher your CTR, the more Google will suspect you of "invalid clicking". Some Adsense experts use to say normal CTR should be around 10% or less.

Page eCPM (Effective Cost Per Thousand Impressions): Essentially, effective CPM represents your estimated earnings for every 1000 impressions that you receive. Effective CPM doesn't represent how much you have actually earned - rather, it's calculated by dividing your estimated earnings by the number of page impressions, then multiplying by 1,000. For example, if you earned an estimated $0.15 from 25 page impressions, then your page eCPM would equal ($0.15 / 25) * 1,000, or $6.00. If you earned an estimated $180 from 45,000 ad impressions, your ad eCPM would equal ($180 / 45,000) * 1,000 or $4.00.

 CPC (Cost Per Click): is the amount of money that you will earn when an ad unit is clicked. CPC values of each Ad Units vary and are determined by many factors, including publisher's performance and the publisher's site quality. But in general, the maximum value possible is 20% of the bid value offered by the advertiser dynamic.

Earnings: Total revenue earned to date.

How I inserted Google Adsense Link List ads at the end of my blog posts

As at the time of publishing this post, if you read any of my blog posts directly on my blog, www.ogbongeblog.com, you will notice Google Adsense Link List unit at the end of the post. In this post, I am sharing with you, how I did it.

Before you implement this trick, kindly BACK UP YOUR TEMPLATE first and I hope you already have an approved Adsense account. If you do not have one, Read: How To Register For Adsense Free of Charge.

So, lets get started.

STEP 1: Login to your Google Adsense account, and create a new ad.  Choose the 180 x 90 ad type. if you prefer the horizontal LinkList, you can choose the 728x15 ad type. Then, copy the code into a Notepad.  Try and create a channel for the ad.  If you do not know how to create Adsense channels, read: http://www.ogbongeblog.com/2011/04/custom-adsense-channels-track-ads.html

STEP 2: Before you can insert the adsense in your blog, you will need to "Parse" the code. Hence, we will need an html parser to do that. So, go to http://www.blogcrowds.com/resources/parse_html.php
At the page, you will see a box, paste your Adsense code into the box and click the "Parse" button. Copy the parsed code. You will need this parsed code in Step 3.

STEP 3:  Login to you Blogger dashboard and navigate to Design > Edit HTML and tick the small "Expand Widget Templates" box. Using "CTRL+F", search for the code <data:post.body/>  and paste the parsed code above, directly below  <data:post.body/>  and save the template.

That's all. View any of your blog post and you should now be seeing adsense ads showing in your post.

Remember, you can only see maximum of 3 Ad units on a page at a time. Hence, if you already displaying 3 ad units on your page, the fourth one will not display after adding this new one.

Advanced Customization

If you are as smart as me, then you can implement this advanced trick...lol. This trick will align the ad to the left of your blog post.

Copy the code below into a notepad and replace the blue part with YOUR parsed adsense code in step 2 and then paste it in your blog as explained in step 3 above. If you do not replace it with your adsense code, that means you will be making money for me because the code in blue, is mine..

How To Use Nigeria Voter's Card to Verify Google Adsense Account

Making money online with Google adsense is not that easy as every bloggers says it is, there are so many hassles, challenges and difficulties in it but as they come, we face them defeat them and stand up tall to write our experience in the history book. Today, I am sharing with you how I verified my Adsense account with my Voter's card right here in Nigeria after I coudn't receive the Adsense verification PIN.

Many people has written quick and simple ways you can receive Google adsense verification pin and verify your account instantly but the truth is that your PIN can only reach you if you provided the right address where you want your pin to be delivered and you will get it depending on the region or distance your address is located. Here in Nigeria, it normally takes 4 to 5 weeks but if you live in places like Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Abuja or other big cities, it can take less than 5 weeks.

If you did not receive your PIN after Google might have sent it to you, you can request for re-issue right from your Adsense account. Google can reissue it for you for a maximum of three times.

So what happens if I still can’t receive my pin from Google after requesting the 3rd time? 

If you have requested for reissue of pin for the third time and you still didn’t receive your pin, Google brings up another alternative to verify your account. You will be ask to send a digital picture of a government issued ID card, bank statement, utility or telephone bill, displaying your picture (for the ID card) full names and contact address.

If you are a Nigerian, you can successfully use your voter’s card to verify your account because that is what I used and it was accepted in less that 24hours. All I did was scan my voter’s card and sent it to them. You can also use your national ID card, Drivers license, PHCN bill etc I guess what they want to see is your picture on the ID card, full names, and contact address and off course federal republic of Nigeria written at the top of the document you are sending.

Note that all details in your account must correspond with the document you intend to send.

You should be aware of the fact that Google can stop displaying ads on your blog if you do not verify it as soon as possible.

What To Do If Google Disapproves Your Adsense Application

If you want to make money online via Google Adsense, you can apply for it free of charge but there guidelines you must follow for your application to be approved. Savvy publishers like you can avoid common application pitfalls by being aware of the trouble areas while also making sure youavoid forbidden content on your blog/website. 


If your application has not been approved, please refer first to the application status message that Google sent to you - it contains more details on why your application was disapproved. Below, are some of the most common disapproval reasons and the next steps you should follow.

==>     There was a problem with my contact details or name

    Please sign in under www.google.com/adsense with the email address that you first applied with. On the next page, you will see a form where you can correct your address data and resubmit the application.

 ==>   There was a problem with my website content

    Please review Adsense guidelines to make sure that your website complies with Adsense policies. After you have adjusted the content of your website, you can resubmit your application underwww.google.com/adsense.

 ==>   The message says that I already have an account under another email address

    At this moment, AdSense policies only allow one account per publisher. Please refer to the email that Google sent to you and follow the steps outlined there to either keep using your existing accounts or move to a new account. Make sure that you follow the instructions in the email rather than just closing your old account, as doing so will require you to submit a new application with a different email address.

You will probably face this kind of scenario when another Adsense publisher is a full admin on your blog which you also access with the email you used to apply for Adsense. If this is the case, remove the person from your blog and re-apply with a new email address atwww.google.com/adsense.

 NOTE:   Publishers whose accounts have been terminated for invalid activity or policy violations will not be allowed to open a new AdSense account according to the AdSense T&Cs.

Verifying Adsense Account Using Phone Number and Proof Verification Methods

You might not believe what you're about to read right now but, it's actually true. I registered for Google Adsense around late december 2010 and got approved by January 2011. After I got approved, I waited like everyone who applied for the Google Adsense Programme for my PINto verify my account but it didn't come. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months but still, I didn't receive my PIN.

After I had waited for about 6 months without getting my PIN, I requested for another to be generated, this second PIN still didn't arrive at my door step. I waited at home for another 6 months for the second PIN hoping that it would get to me that time but, it never came. I was even thinking my contact details were incorrect; I corrected my postal address, house address and phone no. I actually requested for my PIN three times. It was some months later after I had requested for the third PIN, it all happened.

On one faithful morning, I received a message from Google Adsense that they've begun to serve unpaid ads on my account because it hasn't been verify and after a short period of time, my account would be disabled. At that moment, I woke up from my dream to face reality.

After searching for ways by which I could verify my adsense account without receiving my PIN via my postal address, I bumped into a very helpful work-a-round on the Adsense Help Forum .


Here are the two steps I took to verify my Google Adsense Account:


1. Phone Number Verification

This is very easy to undertake. What you'll need to do is:

==> Visit
  https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/request.py?&contact_type=phone_verification
  .
==> Fill in the form with genuine details in the required fields (Name,  Email Address, Publisher ID...)

==>  In the Phone No field, make sure the phone number you're givingcorresponds with your account information in your Adsense account.

==> Click Submit


2. Proof Verification

This is kinda tricky but it's actually very helpful.

==>  Visit
  https://support.google.com/adsense/bin/request.py?&contact_type=id_verification
  .
==>  Fill in your Name, Email address and publisher ID in the required fields. (Your publisher id looks more like this=>  "pub-2451xxxxxxxxxx" )

==>  In the attachment section, you'll need to attach a text file containing your personal details in this format:

  Name:
  Contact Address:
  Phone No:
  Email Address:
  Publisher ID:
  Postal Address:
  Country:

  * To easily create a text document, runs the Notepad on your PC (win + R and type notepad).

==> Click Submit.

NOTE: You can also upload a photocopy of your Driver's license, national ID card instead of the text file.

You'll get a reply under 7 working days. But in my case, I got my account verified under 3 days.
